119 ICHS Students were given the FACTS Traffic Safety Survey on January 28 and 29, 2021. On the topic of distracted driving, either as a driver or passenger, students ranked changing radio station as first, eating or drinking as second and speeding as third. How to maintain a vehicle, how to drive in different kinds of weather, how to drive in construction and how to share the road with bicyclists were the statements most students marked as false.
Based on these findings, the FCCLA chapter at ICHS will plan safety stations for students using the FCCLA FACTS (Families Acting for Community Traffic Safety) curriculum. ICHS FCCLA has partnered with the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Team Toyota to deliver the safety stations on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Additional hands on vehicle, bicycle and ATV inspections and demonstrations are planned for later this school year.
